Frogskins are the most popular Oakley sunglasses
in our shop. Thanks to their uncompromising look and feel, Frogskins have been a favourite among skaters, snowboarders, and surfers for more than 30 years. Just as iconic as the frame itself is the Frogskins’ colour spectrum. From matte or murky frames to orange and blue mirrored lenses, Oakley Frogskins
look just as adventurous as the people who wear ‘em. As a long time Frogskins specialist, Revert 95 always offers a broad range of Oakley Frogskins in a wide variety of colours.
The Frogskins is a high tech interpretation of the Wayfarer, the frames that rocketed to stardom in the ’50 and ‘60s. The Wayfarer silhouette was created by eyewear pioneer Raymond Stegeman in 1952. With a radical new shape and construction, the Wayfarer is a true mid-century design classic, just like the Eames chair and Cadillac tail fins. The Wayfarer’s trapezoidal frame was inspired by cat’s eyes, which, according to some, gave the glasses a hint of unstable dangerousness. This is nicely balanced out by sturdy arms that gave them a stabilizing, masculine look. In 1985, Oakley gave a hardcore, almost indestructible spin to the classic Wayfarer silhouette with the Frogskin. Obsessed by innovation and progression, Oakley has patented over 600 material innovations since 1975. The company started as a manufacturer of motocross grips in a garage in California. Soon after, gloves, elbow guards, and chin guards for BMX and motocross riders were added to the line-up. By the time Oakley
dove into eyewear in 1980 (first with bike goggles, then snow goggles, then everyday shades), the brand had already established itself as one of the leaders in the action sports industry. When you take Oakley’s innovation-driven, adventure-seeking DNA into account, you know Oakley sunglasses aren't your average shades.
With a trapezoidal frame, keyhole bridge and logos at the sturdy arms, Oakley’s Frogskins stay true to the Wayfarer’s edgy design. But there’s more than meets the eye. Frogskin frames are built from high-impact O Matter plastic with controlled flexibility, a material that bends just enough to withstand high-velocity and high-mass collisions, and is tested in conditions beyond what you would ever encounter in real life. The Frogskin also features Oakley’s signature three-point fit, hitting the wearer at the nose bridge and temples to let them stay securely in place. And Oakley’s cutting-edge innovation doesn’t end at the frames. The lenses are built to mimic the eye’s anatomical curve, maximizing peripheral vision and minimizing distortion. Plutonite lens material provides unmatched UV protection, because it has ray-blocking built in it, instead of just a coating on the surface.
